Jakarta , JMC—The Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX), which is better known as the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) is located in Gedung Bursa Efek Indonesia, Jln. Jend. Sudirman, South Jakarta. Since all types of financial and monitory activities go on in this building, it has always been a favored destination for Commerce students studying Business Studies and Economics. On 19 March 2010, the students of the Jubilee School FEP Grades 10B, 10D and 11B Commerce stream visited IDX, chaperoned by their Economics teacher, Ms Eko Setiarini and Business Studies teacher, Mr Syahrudy.

Ms Yane was the IDX officer who guided the students around and helped them to understand the various activities taking place on a daily basis; Capital Market, Stocks as an Investment Instrument, Stocks in Primary and Secondary Markets and Composite Index etc.  The students were quite engrossed and enthusiastically asked questions and duly noted down all the information given. Through this hands-on learning, the students were able to grasp the theoretical concepts better.

The visit lasted from 9.00-11.00 AM. When the “budding entrepreneurs” returned to school, they were brimming with all the newly acquired knowledge. To consolidate their experiences during this visit, the students also had to write a report on what they had observed and learned. (Piet/JMC)
