The third batch of Cambridge International Certificate for Teachers and Trainers took place at Jubilee School and spanned over eight days beginning on 19th April and closing on 27th April 2010. This time, ten teachers from Jubilee School were accompanied by a similar number of visiting candidates from SMA Dwiwarna Bogor, Springfield International School Jakarta, BPK Penabur Kelapa Gading, SMPN 1 Jetis Ponorogo and Al-Azhar International School Surabaya.

The twenty candidates came from a wide variety of backgrounds; some were from early childhood education, others were from primary and high schools whilst some of them were principals of their respective schools and came with a different perspective. Yet, in spite of their differences, all the candidates worked hand in hand to understand and implement the materials being offered by the trainers. The twenty teachers who on the first day were total strangers emerged after eight days as lifelong friends and fellow educators.

The actual training was preceded on day one by a simple opening ceremony whereby a prayer was led by Bapak Hanafi from Al-Azhar School Surabaya. Bapak Ibrahim Abdulah, Chairman Yayasa Citra Bangsa Mulia commented on the value of such training and on Jubilee’s role in advancing teachers’ skills. Subsequently, a ceremonial handing over of the training kit to two of the candidates was done by Ibu Ida Farida. After some light refreshment, the candidates proceeded to the Multipurpose Hall to commence the actual training. (read about opening ceremony here)

On the first day, the candidates were introduced to the basic concepts and guidelines of the Certificate. In addition, they learnt about “self reflection” and the “glossary of terminologies” which they would be encountering throughout the training. In the meanwhile, the candidates became acquainted with certain documents such as the Syllabus and Guide from Cambridge University. By the end of the first day, the candidates had become familiar with each other and their surroundings and some of their apprehension about the course had already been dispelled. They were actually looking forward to attending the day two training.
